UMBC's Twitter account was the real victor of their historic NCAA victory

Not pinpointing Maryland-Baltimore County to stun top overall seed Virginia, and certainly not by 20 points.

"Phenomenal year. Can't take away an ACC Championship, can't take away the most wins, can't take away an ACC Conference Tournament, and can't take away so far being the first 1 seed to get beat and lose". Virginia had allowed just 54.3 points per game this season, the fewest in the nation.

After a relatively sedate start to the NCAA men's basketball tournament, the most shocking result in tourney history was saved for one of the last games in the round of 64.

The deal calls for another $7,500 for the team participating in the NCAA tournament. But Odom quickly ended the futility by winning three games in the Postseason Tournament.

For an athletics department with an annual budget just over $9 million, that $364,000 payday (or more if the conference awards them more than an equal one-ninth cut) is a huge amount of money.

Before his time in Charlotte, Odom was on Virginia Tech's coaching staff for seven years part of a team that went to the NCAA Tournament in 2007 and defeated IL in the first round. He won the Joe B. Hall Award in 2017 as the top first-year coach in Division I, according to The Roanoke Times. "We were all in the locker room singing the first line, because that's all we know, but I think we're going to have to learn the rest of the song, too. When he gets going like that if breeds confidence in other guys".

Ryan is the son of Dave Odom, who retired in 2008 after being the head coach at SC. "We knew we could play with them before the game".

UMBC. on the other hand, was the lowest No. 16 seed ranked in the tournament.

Vikings land Sheldon Richardson
Unlike with Richard Sherman, Jimmy Graham and others, the Seahawks were reportedly actively trying to re-sign Richardson. Veteran defensive tackle Tom Johnson will meet with Seattle on Monday, according to Tom Pelissero of NFL Network.

"I told our guys we had a historic season".

The added emphasis on 3-point shooting in recent years has also made the notion of a No. 16 seed pulling off the once-unthinkable more realistic.

"I always let him play", Odom said.

Lyles was dealing with cramps in the second half and was clearly hobbled but led the Retrievers with 28 points, 23 of those in the second half.

UMBC was a school better known for it's powerhouse chess teams.

The Retrievers have a place in history, but to really give the school a massive dose of extended national exposure, they need a second upset Sunday against ninth-seeded Kansas State.

Things got so exciting, we'll forgive the typo.
